Trust in Him

Well all, this week was another good week! We've laughed through it all. We don't have one progressing investigator and most of our numbers are down to zero. So our days are spent working so so hard to try and find at least one person to teach. Since everything is wiped clean all we can do is trust in His plan. This week I have to trust in Gods plan a lot! There is no other way to go through this situation or life without having complete trust in His plan for His children. If there is no other lesson to learn, I have learned one of the most important ones to completely trust in Him. I know that He has a plan for this area and I am honored and excited to be part of it.

In a book I was reading the other day there was a story about kids caught in a storm. Their teacher whispered to a child, "God is with me now" & to say it to the next child. The storm didn't calm down, but they themselves were able to not be frightened. I learned how this is so comparable to our lives. God may not calm the storm around us, but he gives us strength to go through our trials easier. Oh how I have felt that these past couple weeks. I have done many things that I wouldn't have been able to do without His help. Everyone just rely on God in all that you do!!

So since elections are coming up a lot of people ask us who we are voting for... umm that is not a great question as a missionary! So we give an awkward answer on our purpose as a missionary and that's that... really funny! (:

My comp said the other day that we influence each other for good in several different ways, but food is not one of them! Haha guys it's so bad. We had a counter full of treats that we had and people gave to us, and we just kept eating them. So we laugh all the time on how big of pigs we are! Hey it's whatever makes you happy right?(:

Love you all! Praying for y'all. Have a blessed week.

Uhh we got towed...

Well as you can tell by the subject line we sure had a crazy week! We have had many obstacles this week thrown at us, but we laughed through it all. I will try and keep it concise. & yes these are all 1st world problems (:
To start from the beginning of the week we got towed... so we went to help out a lady, got the parking pass from her and went to put it in the car as the tow truck is passing. We were acting confident with this bright orange parking pass, showing off cause haha we had a pass. He drives away, so we head up to this ladies appt. And my comp looks out the window and points laughing, "I think that's our car!" So we go out, everyone is freaking out telling us our car got towed and we just busted up laughing.... they sure were surprised by our reaction! Long story short we parked on the wrong side of the road... Buckingham Gardens & Buckingham Commons. Confusing guys! So we had to call Elders to take us to the towing place. Then we were walking home excited cause its the end of the day and we walk into our apartment and the ac is broken. It was like a sauna. so elders brought over another fan, we layed on ice packs in soaked cold tshirts.
So our ac flooded our hallway and they had to come tear up the carpet, fan that out, change the pad, & clean the carpets. One day our car was leaking, and our tiwi was broken (the mission speed limit restrictor thing) and wouldn't register my comps driving card, so these little things kept us from prime finding time, and we NEEDED to be out finding. Our mission had a goal this week to get 300 new investigators with baptismal invites! If you have served a mission, you know this is hard work! So we did everything we could to be out talking to people, but Satan kept getting in our way.
Through these obstacles I have learned more about the power of prayer. I have never fallen on my knees and prayed so hard in my entire life till this week.  All i wanted was to be able to contribute 1 person to our goal of 300. The power of prayer is amazing. Even though it was a tough week we were able to be strong and constantly try our very best. Because of the power of prayer, complete trust in the Lords will, and having so much faith in Him our mission was able to surpass our goal and make it to 432 NEW INVESTIGATORS WITH BAPTISMAL INVITES!!!!!!! That is a complete MIRACLE. Our year goal is 300 baptisms, so we totally got that!! Our reward of 432 new gators we are all able to go to the Temple an extra time!! YAY. We may not of contributed but our prayer and faith sure helped out. Prayer will get you through anything. I promise.
Weekly laughing moment: So we knock on this door and this lady answers and we smile then asks why we are high, we say we're totally not. Then she thinks were drunk... uhh heck no we aren't. Shes like than what are you?! Uhh i said Happy!! She was blown away at our happiness. Hahah hilarious and awkward all at the same time!
We went to a Baptist BBQ. We volunteer at a Baptist Food Pantry and they invited all the Elders and us to come over for a Saturday night BBQ. It was fun! Then last night we went to the temple visitors center to watch Meet the Mormons 2!! Guys one segment is filmed in MORGAN, UTAH!!!!!! Yes i was freaking out the entire time!! I was so happy to see home!! (:
This week has been crazy and so good. I know that everything happens for a reason and in God's time. What a blessing this gospel is in the trying times of life. We need his strength to strengthen ours. I know we all have personal struggles, but keep pushing hard and rely on the Lord. I love you all so so much. best wishes.

District of Columbia!

Aloha! So this week was such a great one! We celebrated my 1 month in the field this week & you know where we went.... to go get free Froyo! Thee best. I'm pretty sure I am gaining weight in my forearms... so I have so much to look forward to(:  Weekly dying of laughter moment: I have laughed so hard in almost all of our lessons... its so bad. But this week we were checking on some members & we were talking with this member's mom & she gave us a glass of water. Which I was SO grateful for in this humid HOT heat.  My companion knocks her teeth so loud with the glass & I couldn't hold it in. The things you laugh at as missionary! So great.
We volunteered again at the cute nursing home & they are such sweethearts. We talked to this one grandma and she said that we don't even speak English & all we do is smile! Then another grandma asked where we were from & so we said Utah & she couldn't stop laughing for like 3 minutes! Then another gma said that laughing is good for you cause you fill up with air & fall to the ground! Ahh so cute.
We had a rough day on Wednesday.  We were about to give up and go home for curfew. Then the last door we knocked on was this families door & it was such a blessing. She has so much faith & God had prepared her for years to be so accepting and humble of our message. We talked to her about The Book of Mormon & she was so so excited to read it, she like pulled if from our hands! Since she was a family we had to pass her, but I know she will be baptized. So much love for her. Those are the moments that just put you in the best determined mood to find all those people who have been prepared by our Heavenly Father!
So we went to DC today!! So much fun!! Since DC is out of our mission bounds we are allowed to go every 6 weeks...shocker, ALL DC South is in Virginia! 😀 & uhh we took one wrong turn & ended up in DC, out of our mission bounds... the streets here are SO confusing! So we had to make the trek back to VA, so then we could just walk right back over! We went to the Natural History Museum, where Night at the Museum was filmed!! && the National Archives. Couldn't help but think of myself as Nicholas Cage! Plus all the other sights you see in between. I sure feel like death right now from walking in the heat, but it was so worth it! The greatest part was we took a taxi back to our car at the Arlington Cemetery! Grateful. It's been a good time here. Hope everything is going well with all ya'll! Much love. Stay close to the gospel. You can do hard things!!

Fam & friends! So much has happened this week! I wish I could just bring you all with me on this adventure. We got to volunteer at a nursing home and it was thee best. We got to set up for a birthday party and this 102 year old lady was wondering why it was her birthday, and she just had it a month before! Then she turns to my companion and I and said, "I can't hear!" (While music was playing in the background) so cute!
We built a fort for weekly planning. We are children! Best fort I've ever made.
Oh my gosh there is this frozen yogurt place that gives yogurt to missionaries for free, so you all know I will be there every other day! It was so good. Yumm.
Haha so since we are in a YSA ward, we just watch everyone flirt... so so awkward. It's painful sometimes. Plus everyone is on internships here from BYU and everyone is heading back, so our ward is getting small. But I still love YSA!
We got a new investigator that we knocked on his door and during our lesson he was so interested to learn more, because of how we leave our families & love for 18 months. So its worth it if he gets baptized! Our lesson was so spiritual. I'm excited to see where this goes.
I just want you all to know that no effort is wasted. So continuously give all you have. I read the coolest conference talk by a seventies. He is a heart surgeon and he was working on an infant and it was a really complicated surgery that he stopped the surgery and went to go pray in the corner. He told Heavenly Father that he can't do it alone. He heard Heavenly Father clearly tell him, "Do your best. Together we can do it." & I love that! We are NEVER alone. You are never by yourself, God is with you! Ya'll should listen to He Paid It All by Brandon Heat. Such a testimony builder song about the atonement. Oh & also watch the gospel shall roll forth on lds.org. Spiritual. Okay I love you all! Thanks for all the love.
Pics: I fulfilled my #1 dream as a little girl of going to The American Girl store! & we had a little too much fun at the mall. If you ever get the chance to go to Tysons Corner. Do it.

Arlington National Cemetery!

Hey hey hey everybody! So this week was amazing! So many good things happened! We had zone conference on Tuesday and I got to play a musical number with the #1 tenor singer of Idaho, so it was pretty cool and the Spirit was so strong! Plus it was I Know My Redeemer Lives, and that's my fav hymn, so I wanted to cry, but if I did I would've screwed up! Haha! And then we all sang Called To Serve and I was overcome with gratitude & love for my Savior to call me to His work. I just want you all to know that Heavenly Father & Jesus are VERY much aware of you and love you so so much. My testimony continuously grows everyday and I can't even express to you all how much I love this gospel and our Savior.
Umm it's been raining a TON and I am loving it!! Like pouring rain. Wayyyyy happy driving in the pouring rain under thee greenest tree! So dang pretty. Oh & I saw a cow. I was so excited! But bugs here are AWFUL... President gave us all a can of spray. We get eaten alive! And no matter what time of day it is stop and crawl traffic. Hate it. Lots. And being YSA we cover 8 big cities so we travel everywhere! We drive a lot & we listen to everything we have, including Christmas music, yes Christmas in July & August. Changes things up a little bit(: and I love it.
So last Tuesday we went to the post office to mail a letter, and a sweet women comes up to us talking! We knew she was Mormon, and she was adorable! Then when I was at the temple later that day the same women was there, so we talked for awhile! Then Saturday when I went to the temple again, for our recent convert. Anyways we were walking past the pictures of the temple presidents & she was the temple president's wife! Ahh I was mind blown excited! But I was able to help with baptisms, so I got to be in the font room with her. She was smiling the entire time! I felt the Spirit so much just being able to watch this amazing work be done! It was an amazing day!
We went to Arlington Cemetery today and it was so fun! And so hot! I love when you can tell the people who are LDS cause they yell at you, "Hi sisters!!" So fun! We feel famous. The Mormon world is so small. I know people's cousins, am people's cousins, people who graduated from Morgan high, people who live nearby, been to Morgan, dated people from Morgan ... it's crazy! & Morgan isn't big! Too many connections. But I LOVE you all & wish you all the best.
